One polymer,
many chemistries.
Guar gum is extracted from guar beans and has thickening and stabilising properties useful in food, feed and industrial applications. Its numerous reactive –OH groups let the galactomannan be reacted and functionalised in a controlled way, which is where the derivative range comes from.

03 · Cosmetics & personal care · INCOL
Nonionic and cationic guar for hair and skin.
The INCOL HP series is nonionic modified hydroxypropyl guar (CAS 39421-75-5); the INCOL C series is cationic guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride (CAS 65497-29-2, and 71329-50-5 for C10 HP). Both are compatible with most anionic and amphoteric surfactants, and stable across a wide pH range and in ethanol, for shampoo, conditioner, body wash, liquid soap, shaving gels, lotions, wipes and bar soaps.
| Grade | Viscosity (1%) | INCI name and use |
|---|---|---|
| INCOL HP 12 SP | 1,000–2,500 cps | Hydroxypropyl guar, low-thickening conditioner and moisturiser for creams and body lotions |
| INCOL HP 25 SP | 2,500–4,500 cps | Hydroxypropyl guar, thickener for transparent and hydro-alcoholic gels |
| INCOL HP 36 SP | 3,600–4,600 cps | Hydroxypropyl guar, thickener, stabiliser and viscosity modifier |
| INCOL C20S | 2,000–4,000 cps | Guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, cationic conditioning |
